Get Inspired by These Holiday Themed Centerpiece Ideas

Posted on December 19, 2018

The holiday season is the perfect time of year to gather and feast with your loved ones. To help get you into the festive spirit, give your kitchen table a special touch of holiday decor! Entertain in style with one of these elegant table centerpieces.

Winter Wonderland

A beautiful centerpiece that is elegant and easy to create is one that is reminiscent of a peaceful, snowy winter day. Start with a base of beautiful frosty ferns and add white flowers like Amaryllis and Paperwhites. Add birch candle holders with white candles, or white candlesticks with silver candle holders.

To create the arrangement yourself, cut florist foam to your desired size. Insert branches of frosty ferns, and push in the stems of your chosen flowers. You can push candles directly into the foam as well, or if you have opted for candles in candleholders, make at least two winter wonderland centerpieces and place the candles in the center. For a bit of extra glamour, sprinkle your centerpieces with sparkles or artificial snow!

Festive Pillars

Create a simple yet elegant Christmas table decor by filling clear vases with garland, Christmas ornaments, greenery, or any other decor of your choosing. Add visual interest by integrating vases of different heights and sizes. Of course, traditional candles can be used to add some light but battery-operated tea lights or fairy lights can also make your holiday pillars truly pop.

A Colourful Display

While greenery and holly are classic holiday favourites, there’s still room for lots of colour! For a simple, yet colourful centerpiece, fill a silver bowl or tray with an assortment of brightly colored ornaments. Display the bowl atop a cake stand, and surround with sparkly tinsel.

If you want colour but still would like to integrate the greenery, add twigs of pine or other greenery to florist foam, top with holly berries and pinecones, and add dispersed pops of colour throughout your centerpiece. For a truly personal touch, these colourful accents can be ornaments passed on through the generations, or ornaments your children made.

Pretty Peppermint

For a fun and edible centerpiece, simply fill clear vases with candy canes! You can line the outside of the vases with the treats, add a piece of white foam in the center, and top with poinsettia flowers. Alternatively, fill the vases with mini candy canes and other candies your guests can snack on before and after the main course. Finish the look by wrapping the vase with red or white ribbon.

Edible Decor

If you’re a foodie, make your very own charcuterie spread the focus of your table decor. Add a variety of cheeses, crackers, cut up veggies, fruits, and spreads for an appetizing array. Alternatively, create a mini gingerbread village of houses and people for your guests to treat themselves to after dinner!

Something Uniquely You

Do the holidays leave you feeling sentimental for days past? Or have you and your family been on a trip recently? Choose your favourite photos to be your centerpiece! An easy way to do this is to place two photos back-to-back on memo clips. That way, everyone can see images no matter where they are sitting at the table. Place the memo clips in a line, and weave a beautiful piece of green garland around the base of the clips.

Whichever holiday-themed centerpieces you decide to put on your table this year, all of us at Maillot Homes hope you have a fantastic holiday and a truly happy new year!
